This Privacy Policy explains how the INESLEARN (“we”, “our”, “the Platform”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use services provided for INES-Ruhengeri students, lecturers, and visitors.

1. Information we collect

• Account details — name, email address, role (student/lecturer), phone, and profile information you provide.
• Academic activity — enrollments, lesson progress, assignment submissions, quiz attempts, and certificates.
• Usage data — pages visited, device/browser type, and approximate logs needed to keep the platform secure and reliable.
• AI interactions — questions you send to INES AI Tutor and related usage needed to provide answers and improve service quality.
• Payments — if you purchase paid courses or subscriptions, payment providers process card/mobile money details; we store transaction status, not full card numbers.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and learning dashboard.
• To deliver courses, past papers, library resources, forums, live classes, and certificates.
• To power AI tutoring and academic assistance grounded in platform content.
• To communicate important account, course, and security notices.
• To protect the platform against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
• To improve features and measure platform performance in aggregate.

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

• INES academic staff when needed for teaching, grading, or department administration.
• Service providers that host infrastructure, email, AI models, or payments — only as required to run the Platform.
• Legal authorities when required by applicable Rwandan or other binding law.

4. Data retention & security

We keep account and academic records for as long as your account is active and as needed for institutional, legal, or security purposes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No online system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep it private.

5. Your choices

• Update profile details from your account settings.
• Request account correction or closure by contacting support.
• Control marketing emails where optional preferences are offered.

6. Children’s privacy

The Platform is intended for university learners and staff. If you believe a minor’s data was submitted without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and remove it where required.
